It can be a little hard somtimes, however like anyone with dyslexia we tend to have a tallent all you need is to tap that tallent and let it out. What i find as a dsylexic person is that if anyone trys to tell me that I am not good enough it just makes me more determined to show them that they are massivly worng and when they are its fantastic. I would tell anyone with dyslexia we only struggle to read because we are just so good at that one thing.
I have dyspraxia, which is a bit like dyslexia except that it affects your co-ordination. My brother has dyslexia, dyspraxia and Aspergers, and he’s about to start a second degree in Maths, even though he found school really difficult. I also did research on university students with dyslexia for my university degree.
I reckon science can be a really good subject for people with dyslexia, as there’s less reading than for subjects like English, and you can be really good at doing experiments and thinking about science without having to write that much down.
You can get lots of extra help with dyslexia at university – for example everyone uses computers with spell checkers for their work, I also used to have a programme which let me talk to my computer instead of typing, and I had extra help with keeping myself organised!
If you really want to be a scientist, there are a few things that might be more difficult with dyslexia, but it is definitely something you can do – there are many successful dyslexic scientists.
