I’ve been to:
Austria, Belgium, Czech republic, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, USA….
Being a geologist is great if you want to travel!
I’ve climbed volcanoes, stood on active fault zones, jumped off a 40 ft high bridge into a resevoir to go swimming, I’ve had some pretty bad days on field work too, i was bitten by a poisonous spider in the spanish mountains that made me ill, come across snakes and swarms of bees.
I haven’t eaten very many weird things though, I try to be careful when I’m doing fieldwork. It’s not a good idea to get a poorly tummy when you’re working on your own miles from civilisation. I once tried rattle snake though (and yes it did taste of chicken :S )
I’m off to trinidad and australia next year to collect samples. After my experience in spain I’m a bit scared of going to australia though!
