To be honest, it kind of just ‘happened’. I had lots of ideas about what I wanted to be when I was younger, but I never thought I’d be a scientist. I was quite good at science, though and my teachers made me want to learn more and more about it until eventually I somehow ended up at University studying it!

I suppose the moral of this story is to do what you enjoy because chances are you’re already pretty good at it and it means you’ll always be working with a smile on your face.

Because it seemed like the best way to find out about how things work. It’s actually pretty interesting, because when I grew up I found out that my dad had done psychology at university because he wanted to find out how things work, and thought that understanding how people think was the best way to do that.
