• Question: why do giraffes have such long neck bone??

      That’s a good question! There are two main possibilities for the giraffe’s really long neck and their evolution from smaller antelope-like creatures

      One theory says that longer necks came in handy because they could reach a better food source from higher trees, where no large animal could compete for them.

      Another theory states that its possible that the male or female giraffes preferred long necks in their mates, because it is a mark of ‘good health’.

      It could be that only one or both of these theories could explain the giraffe’s towering neck! I should also clarify that they have about 8 different bone vertebrae that are all long, allowing them to move their neck around.
