A great question. I think that cows with TB should of course be treated, but I think this is more a question of money than anything else.
It is very expensive to treat every single cow with TB and often when cows are used to make money (milk, meat, clothing), they will not be of any value after they have been infected. So, this means that sometimes it will be cheaper to put the animal down rather than let it live. This is horrible but sadly it is how money is made. It would be nicer if they were put to sleep rather than shot, though, I agree. Hopefully we can get TB under control so this doesn’t need to happen!
