This depends on what kind of shark you’re talking about! Sharks have more teeth than we do – a great white shark has about 300 teeth at any one time!

Sharks are very different to us because if they lose a tooth, it is very quickly replaced by another tooth that sits in a row behind it. This is very important for sharks because their survival depends on having sharp teeth to tear into their prey.

What’s even *more* interesting is another type of prehistoric shark, the megalodon. The megalodon lived about ten million years ago and was absolutely massive – its largest teeth could be anywhere up to 18 centimetres long!
