      HI!

Working as an engineer or even in space would be really cool, but as my degree was in biology, I stuck to this subject for my PhD. I did recently find out though, that there are a few jobs per year for biologists at the European space agency! That would be really cool, and if I could I’d love to give it a go.

I saw the opportunity to work in a field that I was interested in whilst also gaining my qualifications, so it meant I didn’t have the problems of student loans as I was being paid at the same time!

I have always loved engineering but I didn’t do my degree in it because I didn’t think I was good enough in maths or physics to do it. If I was gifted in maths and physics then I probably would have become an engineer. Toxicology interested me because it’s all about dose and response – this is the amount of a compound that causes adverse effects like side effects. I think it’s really interesting that if you are exposed to something in large amounts you are not in danger, but with some compounds, a tiny amount can kill you!
