I was lucky enough to win some money to pay for me to go to Canada to present my research at a big conference. It was awesome fun, Canada is great if you like the outdoors, and the conference was a great experience. It was -26 degrees Celsius when I was there, and there was snow everywhere! Living on the south coast of England, we rarely see snow, so I really enjoyed building snow men, having snow ball fights and ice skating on the canal in Ottawa.
I also got to meet lots of big scientists in my field, who I guess you could say are famous.
Winning a scholarship to enable me to do my research at the University of Exeter Medical School. There were loads of people who applied for my scholarship in June 2015 and I was lucky to be the one chosen. It pays to work hard so my advice to you is to aim high, anything is possible.
Um, I don’t get a lot of achievements in the world of science. I recorded a Christmas album last year and it got played on the radio, I was pretty chuffed with that. Will that do?
I was really pleased to be recently awarded my PhD, especially because I did it part time and there were limited experimental facilities at Salford University (my company cleared out all the chemicals from the department so you could sort of say I am responsible for chemistry at Salford shutting down!)
