If you’re not taking in fatty acids from your diet then your body will try to make them. But if your body isn’t able to, e.g. because the cells don’t have the right machinery to make the fatty acids, then you can get health problems. For example, your brain cannot make all of the fatty acids it needs to function properly. If you don’t take in the fatty acids from your diet then this can cause brain problems.
