Hello Bob, thanks for your question. To be honest I’m not entirely sure what would happen. Somehow though, I don’t think that the Earth would fall apart. This is because the force of gravity would still exist. Gravity is what keeps the Earth, and many other planets, intact.
Anais is right about gravity. It’s such a strong force that anything much higher than mount Everest, the tallest mountain on the planet, would collapse under its own weight. If you were able to pick the Earth up in your hand it would feel smoother than a snooker ball – the valleys and mountains are so tiny compared to the radius of the planet.
