Quite a lot. You do tend to ask how and why quite a lot and not always believe easy answers. But we aren’t locked away in ivory towers, we live in the real world too, we go out with friends, laugh at silly films or TV, spend time with family and we still have to cook, clean, eat and sleep too.
Though when you are working in science you do have to spend a lot of your time working or thinking about it, science is not a 9-5 job. Especially for the scientists who are studying to do their PhDs (become science doctors), they work all the time.
The way its really affected me is that it has made me very particular about how things are done and it has also made me much more of a tidy freak!
Being a scientist can also enable you to argue your cause more effectively in debates with others as you might have knowledge that they don’t have 🙂
Additionally, scientists can be very questioning of the world and never take things at face value. This can be a negative or positive trait depending on how you look at it.

There is no such thing as ‘The Scientist Effect’ but being a scientist does affect every part of our lives.
(See the difference? I know I’m annoying…)
