• Question: will the sun ever burn out

      Yes! But unfortunately the Earth won’t survive to see it! Before the Sun burns out it will reach a stage of its life where it becomes very unstable. This is called a red giant star. At this stage it’s core will begin to heat up as the sun begins to expand outwards through the solar system, all the way out to Venus and Earth, swallowing them up!

      Although don’t panic – this is still about 5 billion years away!
