My workday changes depending on the time of year. During Winter and Spring I usually work the normal 8 hours per day (8am until 4pm). But during Summer we have to harvest all the wheat plants (over 100,000!) so when the weather is nice, we have to get outside and harvest as many as we can! So I usually work 8am until 7pm during weekdays in August and September every year….plus sometimes I have to work Saturdays as well – it’s a lot of work! Then in Autumn we have to put the best seeds that we harvested in Summer back into the ground so that they can grow over the next Winter and Spring. That means working late again as well because if there is bad weather we have to stop working. So, when the weather is dry, we work as much as we can!

It’s hard sometimes to work so much, especially in the hot sun. But I work with lots of other people and we can talk and joke whilst we are working so it is quite nice really. And it is very satisfying when you have worked very long hours, it makes you feel tired but good.
