• Question: why did you choose to focus your project on alzheimers

      Good question! In my last year of my undergraduate degree in London, I took a module on neurodegenerative diseases. Back in Hong Kong, people don’t like talking about brain diseases – it’s considered embarrassing. So I knew nothing about neurodegenerative diseases. My PhD project focused on Alzheimer’s disease and that gave me opportunities to work with a great charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK, to attend conferences and events to meet patients and their carers. Also, the scale of Alzheimer’s disease is growing because our population is growing older – the implications are that we need to find some sort of treatment soon before it turns into a full-blown crisis.
