The solar system was formed 4.6 billion years ago and is made up of the Sun and the objects that go round it. The system is held in place by gravity. The largest objects that go round the sun are the planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mar,s Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) but there are also dwarf planets, the asteroid belt, comets, space dust and other things.
