      Potassium dichromate is an orange powder and is usually used to oxidise alcohols. I remember using it as test for aldehydes and ketones, and if there were aldehydes then the potassium dichromate solution changes from an orange colour to a green colour.

      Its used in chemicals for cleaning glassware, its in cement and can be used in photography.

      Not sure that I can add anything. I really like the color chemistry as shown by transition elements in the periodic table (in this example through chromium).
