If you are looking to become a vet, I would ask at local Vets practices for some work experience, and/or volunteer at a local animal shelter. That way you can work with animals and show to Universities that you are passionate about becoming a vet! If you can, see if you can get a summer job working in a pet shop. This is another opportunity to care for animals!

In terms of A levels, you would definitely need Biology and Chemistry, similar to Medicine. Places on veterinary courses are also very competitive so you need to have extra things such as the volunteer work/work experience/summer job to make your application stand out.

I think work experience will be pretty important! In addition to animal shelters, you can also volunteer on farms as they’ll most likely appreciate your help.

Another work hard career. And yes, all of the volunteering experience is necessary as well as rewarding.

The food standards Agency employs vets – in all slaughter houses to ensure that the official controls at slaughter are properly followed.
