I don’t work in a lab any more – when I was there it was fun – but serious too. Particularly as a lot of the chemicals that I used had the potential to be very dangerous.
Now I work hard but always find time to fit in some passions (which I find fun!). Yesterday I presented at a Digital Catapult event and the speaker before me talked about Google flu trends (using google searches to predict flu outbreaks). On a whim I added a section on my own winter vomiting bug predictive model (uses tweets) – a project that a few colleagues and I developed with a summer student – but was so successful we have won awards for. So I guess I still have a mischief gene in there which shows itself sometimes.
Work should be fun – if you do it every day fun keeps you engaged and enjoying things.
