Yes and no. Space itself terrifies me! As far as we know it has no boundaries and we have no idea if there is life (well, what we would call life!) apart from ourselves. The idea of looking at “nothingness” and not knowing what is out there is strange. No oxygen, the blasting heat from the sun with no atmosphere to protect us, aaaah!
Saying that, the images that I have seen of space are beautiful – and the work that astronauts like Tim Peake are doing is amazing. At some point we may outgrow earth and have to look for planets elsewhere so their work is paramount, either that or we find parallel universes (if you’re interested, there’s a great book by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter called “The Long Earth” which describes such a world).
For me though, I think that there is enough here on Earth that we still don’t understand, let along what is out there in space!
