• Question: do you believe we are alone in the universe?

      I think it is highly improbable that we’re alone in the universe… it’s an extremely large place, and there are so many forms of life on Earth alone. But I do think that because the distances are so large it might well be impossible to communicate with any other intelligent species in the universe.

      Same as Angela as this is what a university lecturer taught ume. It is very unlikely we are alone but we won’t live long enough to find to find the other forms of lifeas they could be very far away in the universe.

      I really, really, really hope we’re not. But we have to balance the unimaginably large size of the universe against what may well be an unfathomably small probability for life to be “kick-started” and evolve. There was a study by two astrophysicists at Princeton a couple of years back which suggested that the emergence of life could be really, really, really rare…
