• Question: Why did you go into work for science when you wanted to be a pilot?

      When I left school at 16 I passed my test to join the RAF to be a pilot. The officer there told me that I had to go to college and do my A-levels so that I could go straight in at officer level, so that’s what I did. I really enjoyed being a student at college and decided I wasn’t ready for a job when I left so I changed my mind and went to university instead. I’m glad I did in the end, I’m lucky to have a job that I love. And I can always take flying lessons in my spare time.
