What a good question! I’m not an expert in this area, but let’s look at our next neighbour in the solar system, Venus. Venus is warmer than earth, probably from a combination of it’s atmosphere and the fact that it is closer to the sun, and the length of it’s year is much shorter 225 days. So we can say that the closer we are to the sun, the hotter the earths temperature and the shorter the year. Maybe a mile wouldn’t make too much of a difference, I’m not sure in terms of numbers.
