      It travels at around 8 kilometres per second, which is about 18,000 miles per hour (if you want to compare it to a car). It’s pretty fast! In fact it goes round the Earth about once every 90 minutes. It has to go that fast to make sure it stays in orbit. There’s a really good discussion of it here.
