If by the world, you mean the earth, then that is fairly well known. The sun and the planets started off as a great big swirling cloud of gas. After a (very long) while, the gas started to cool down and some of the material in the gas cloud started to clump together and form into solid material (the way water turns into ice when you put it in the freezer). Because the whole lot was swirling around, the solids became more or less round. After even more time, all the gas turned into solids making all of the planets and asteroids and meteors in our solar system.

How the universe started is another thing entirely, but I always like to think that a great big monster plucked it from his navel one morning in the shower and flushed it down the drain into our dimension.
