He inspires me as much as many other scientists! His work has had a huge impact on not just physics, but the wider world too. But, I also find it really hard to relate to him. Einstein is usually portrayed as a lone genius who came up with great ideas out of the blue. I don’t really see science as working like that – it’s more about lots of people working together to make progress. Most of the success in science comes from hard work, rather than genius flashes of inspiration! I definitely don’t see myself as a genius – just someone who does the best they can.
So, whilst I think his work is incredible and really important, he isn’t someone I see as a role model.
Not especially, I mean he was a cool dude and made some really important discoveries…relatively ;).
I’m nots sure I have an inspiration in a traditional sense, the closest would be my PhD supervisor who I learnt a lot from, and got a lot of guidance from.
