I prefer working with metals because they act in fairly predictable ways. We also learned about plastics at University, but I found them a bit too complicated. I have a lot of respect for people working with plastics. I also did some work on ceramics and how to weld them to metals and that was very interesting too because they act very differently to metals and plastics. At home I most like to work with wood and I make things like chairs and cupboards and stuff. Wood is a beautiful material and you need to treat every piece of wood as an individual because they are all slightly different and if you don’t take that into account, you can make things difficult for yourself. I also love to see the grain of the wood when it has been sanded to a very smooth finish.
