Since I knew that I could do science for a job I thought about being a scientist, I almost became a musician but in the end I liked science a bit more.

I’ve always liked finding out how things work and I’ve loved nature since I was really young. Some of my earliest memories are of catching frogs in my grandma’s pond just so I could look at them and watching their tadpoles grow into frogs. Once I was in high school and we were doing experiments I realised I really enjoyed science and I wanted to do science as a job. For a while I thought about being a science teacher but then decided I wanted to be doing more hands on science.

So i don’t think my family were surprised i wanted to do science but I wasn’t definite about how i wanted to do it until i was in secondary school

When I was in secondary school I thought I wanted to become a forensic scientist. However, it was only once I was at university I realised I really liked being in the lab and wanted to be a research scientist.

It was only really when I started to get interested in Chemistry, and found out how fascinating it is, and what impact that it has on our lives. Then I was really curious about it, I was maybe 14 or 15 then, but still I didn’t know which kind of job I would end up with until I was much older!
