I think it can take a long time sometimes, but that’s not a bad thing. I’m only at the start of my career in science doing my PhD and I’m 25 years old, where my boss (supervisor) is around 50 years old. I think science is really interesting as we all contribute to new discoveries and that can happen really quickly or sometimes take many years of study.

I think that this can happen at any age. It all depends on how well you are able to talk about the science you do. Some people can do this at a young age with only a few qualifications (around 20 years old) and others it takes until they have all the qualifications and have worked for a long time (around 50 years old). Now days with social media, there are a lot more younger people that are very influential and inspiring compared to when I was growing up.

I agree with Scott and Caragh, you can become an inspiring scientist at any age.

It is all about how you do science and share your knowledge, if you always try your best then I think that’s very inspiring. If you are good at sharing how interesting science is with other people and get them interested in science then I think that’s also very inspiring.
