• Question: Do you know anything about the periodic table and what is your faviroute element in the periodic table?

      I like manganese; it’s in the middle of the top. It’s super useful for life and lots of interesting chemistry but if often overlooked for other more fancy elements. (looking at you chromium)

      I know a bit about the periodic table; it’s an amazing achievement and tool because when Dmitri Mendeleev, a Russian, first wrote it out he actually left holes in it. He was so confident that his predictions were right and the elements would be discovered to fill the gaps and they actually were!

    My favourite element is an element called Astatine – it is in the bottom right of the main bit. It’s very rare, one of the rarest that we can find in the universe! When scientists first thought they had made it, they made a guinea pig eat it and because of where the element went in the guinea pigs body, they knew it was Astatine!
    I know a little bit about the Periodic Table like Stuart and am happy to answer more questions in the comments below, but as Stuart said – the Elements Zone is a cool place for even more information 🙂
    One of my favourite things about the periodic table is we can name elements after famous scientists to give them a lot of credit for their work 🙂
