Employ more scientists, engineers, hackers & bodgers, technologists and forward thinkers. I’d found an ‘Institute of Awesome Things’ and work with others around the world to develop ideas and products to move humanity forward

Invest the money in science and innovation, because it is ultimately science and innovation that moves us along as a species.
Science and innovation can tackle problems at the source (e.g. reduce poverty, improve lifestyle of people, feed the growing world population, etc.) rather than fight the symptoms. One of my favourite phrases is this:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
That captures science and innovation in a nutshell.
      cheers
