Well I did the same GCSEs as everyone else really, can’t remember which ones were personal choice now ha. At A-level I went on to do Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths, then Biochemistry as much university degree. Then I ended up doing biology as a career without even doing a biology A-level!
The German school system is somewhat different than the British one.
You have to have some subjects (e.g. German, a foreign language, PE, maths, etc.) in addition to picking two “intensive” subjects: Mine were German and Physics. I got rid of chemistry (The teacher had been awful, so I didn’t want to continue; I regretted that during university), but kept biology, even though I didn’t have to.
I ended up doing biology as well, even though my “intensive” science subject was physics 🙂
