Nikolai Adamski answered on 10 Mar 2015:

Scientific fields are complex and wide and a single researcher can only study so much (a day only has 24 hours).
I have studied biology, so I am a biologist in the widest sense. I then further specialised on the field of genetics, i.e. I try to understand how genes affect and control the development of an organism. I further focus my efforts as a geneticist on plants and within plants I particularly look at wheat.
But as a scientist you always learn new things. Currently, I am learning/teaching myself more about bioinformatics: That is using computers and software to help me with my research. It includes learning how to code programs (I started with Python) and work with very large sets of data/information.
I hope that answers your question
      cheers
