I’m not sure if you mean scientific interests or outside interests, so I’ll bore you with both!

      Fun Stuff:
I like music in a big way. This is a list of everything I’ve been listening to in the past few months. Geeky, yes, but I love things like this! http://www.last.fm/user/ammegandchips
I really like animals, but because I’m not allowed any pets in my rented flat I have to get my fix by visiting zoos and farm parks and things. One day (hopefully soon) I really want to get a cat and a dog.
I like walking, so it’s good living in Edinburgh because there are so many nice walks and good views. I also really like reading when I get the time. Usually things about society breaking down and the world ending (cheery, I know)… or soviet Russia (even less cheery, I know).

      Science:
Human reproductive biology, but mainly pregnancy and child birth
The use of computer science in biology to help us understand our results
Systems biology (considering whole biological systems together rather than breaking them down into lots of little parts and only studying one bit at a time)

Ill follow gemmas lead so science and fun stuff

fun stuff, i like reading, things like science fiction and adventure books. i go sailing-with my dad, he teaches guide weekends in the lake district so i kind of tag along 🙂 i like making things, i came second in a craft fair for a patchwork quilt (probably very sad hehe)

science, i really like engineering and biology, so i studied biomaterials. its got alot to do with matching materials properties to whats already in the body and how the body acts as a machine (with forces etc)

In terms of my work, I’m interested in relating form to function – so discovering what physical structures and properties an animal has, and how they use it to their advantage.
Outside of work, my interests are varied! I love the ‘great outdoors’ – I’m an avid climber, and enjoy wandering through the city or somewhere a bit greener. I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie, so I like going to theme parks, paintballing, go karting etc; but I also like things that are a little more low key, so going to gigs, travelling, and cooking.
