I’m an agnostic. I’ve yet to see a question about “god” that could be answered scientifically. That doesn’t mean that science is opposed to god, just that science can’t address the question of god’s existence. Over the centuries, many of the aspects of god have been replaced by science, but that also doesn’t oppose god. We used to say lightning struck because god willed it. Now lightning is understood to emerge from subatomic physics of a very elegant, beautiful form. But why does it have that particular form?
I believe in evolution, the evidence is all around us and can be used a lot to explain things about ourselves (as humans) BUT I do believe in God, I don’t necessarily trust what people say about him- I know it sounds odd, but the bible was written and rewritten by many people (and anyone can have their own agenda).
I seem to be the odd one out in all scientific company but have gotten used to it, I think the way I was brought up is that no-ones opinions/beliefs are wrong, they’re just different to each others!!
I have a very strong belief in God, which (as Judith has mentioned) tends to baffle other scientists. As far as I’m concerned, my belief’s are personal and do not interfere with my work; but in a similar vein, my education doesn’t necessarily have an impact on my faith, so I believe in creation, but am aware that people interpret the Bible in different ways.
