Well to start with (when i didn’t know much/anything about my topic) my supervisor gave me an outline of the work I would be doing for my phd, like a general overview.I didn’t a lot of reading and learning methods to start with but now I come up with my own experiments, I still check them with my supervisor, and alot of the time he has ideas of things to try and helps me figure out what my results mean-I’m pretty lucky to have such a hands-on supervisor!!
