Hi Farell, thanks for all the good questions and thanks for the vote!

Firstly, before you go on any sort of diet it’s really important to speak to your doctor. That’s because you might not actually be overweight, you might just feel like you are so it’s really important not to try to lose weight if you don’t need to. Plus cutting things out of your diet can be dangerous and can make you ill. It’s really important to get a good, but varied diet, especially when you’re young and still developing.

Eating healthily and exercising is the key to making sure your body weight stays within the healthy zone.

If you talk to your doctor and they think you do need to cut down on certain foods, then they will be able to give you a detailed plan with tips to make sure you keep at it. But as I say, it’s really important that you talk to your doctor before dieting!

      Hope that’s helped 🙂

Hey Farrell, as Gemma has said the first step would be to speak to your doctor to determine if you really need to go on a diet or you just THINK that you do. Sometimes we pay too much heed to the opinions of people around us (e.g. our friends), rather than looking at the facts. If it turns out that you do need to go on a diet, being young I’m guessing your doctor will advise you to cut back on certain foods (one’s that are high in saturated fat) and get more involved in sports. Small changes can make a big difference; you’ll be surprised.
