I’m not a biologist, so don’t know for sure, but everything you eat is used by your body in some way, so it makes sense that this would effect your skin if you didn’t eat the right nutrients then it must have an adverse effect on the skin.
I’m no dermatologist, but I’m sure what you eat does have an effect on your skin – as Mark says, your body uses the nutrients in your food to keep it going and to renew your cells, inlcuding your skin cells. Lots of other things have an effect too though, like how much exercise you do (nothing like a good sweat to clear out your pores), how much sun you get (you need a little bit to get your vitamin D, but get too much sun and you’ll look like a leather handbag eventually), and the skincare products you use.
