• Question: Why does the multiverse become unstable at 11 dimensions?

      Hi darkgolbournster1!

      There is a theory that says (but can’t yet prove) that many universes exist, called a multiverse of universes, and that it is 11-dimensional. The theory cannot go beyond 11 because the maths they use to calculate this theory says the universes become unstable beyond 11. If they write down the theory of a 13-, 15-dimensional universe it doesn’t make sense, and it collapses down to an 11-dimensional universe. But within 11 dimensions you can have worlds (like ours) that are 3 dimensional, and some that are 4-dimensional and 5-dimensional. These universes are called membranes, or brains for short.
