• Question: why do astronauts eat small portions of food when they travel and what is the food that they eat?

      Hiya kristin – I don’t know for sure but a good guess is if you eat less bulk then you need to poo less and I would think (although having never been there don’t know for sure) pooing in space isnt the easiest thing inthe world to deal with!
      The food they eat is specially formulated to contain all the nurtrients, proteins, energy etc. the astronauts need, but it is also dry packed so that it can be stored and transpoted easily withouth going off too quickly.
