In my work there are many dangers and some come from unexpected places. So, before I do any experiment especially if it is something I haven’t done before or haven’t done for awhile, I have to do what is known as a rick assessment to make sure the dangers aren’t too great. You can’t get rid of all dangers but you can put things in place to limit the danger eg, wearing gloves and googles or only using a drug if it is absolutely necessary.

Saying all that, I once got my thumb caught in a pump and had to go to Accident and Emergency, thankfully there was no permanent damage, I just have a very interesting fingerprint. I did experiments using sheep some time back and now I use rats both can be unpredictable at time.

The more expected dangers are things like using radioactivity or toxic chemical both of which I have done. The most dangerous chemical I’ve ever used is call dinitrophenol and it is very toxic but we used it in very some amounts and wore protective clothing.
