  I would like to know this too – although I suspect turtles are amphibious and live in water too, and tortoises dont! Perhaps a scientist in one of the non-sport zones would be able to help more?

  Helen is right i think, pretty sure all species of tortoises are soley land-dwelling, whereas turtles spend time both on land and in the water…..plus i think a series based on teenage mutant hero tortoises wouldn’t really sell…..the theme tune wouldn’t work for starters!!!
