Mercury. The first time I was handed a bottle of it at school I dropped it and it shattered everywhere (perhaps that shows my age as I am sure that would be a health and safety issue now!).
It just goes to show how we make assumptions about things – I thought that because the bottle contained a liquid, that it would be light, like water. I never thought how heavy a liquid might be and my body wasnt prepared to take the weight.
Phosphorus……just beacause our teacher got carried away at school and put far too big a chunk of it in a bowl of water!! It went nuts and filled the room with smoke!! Think he may have been a substitue teacher and was trying to show off!!
I have no questions to answer in my zone, so I’m butting in! *waves*
Tellurium for the novelty, if you touch it or eat it you smell strongly of garlic and your fingernails turn black. Then you die. Worst part is that everyone wants to avoid you before the end. Tough break.
