      Yes. Training can only take you so far in sport – natural ability is needed to be the best of the best. Genes affect how tall you are, the size of your hips, how good you are at motivating yourself.

      But background also has an affect. If your family are sporty and you’ve grown up in a sporty household it must be much easier to motivate yourself and train hard because you and your parents know what you’re getting yourselves into.
