I don’t really have a hero; I am reading a biography at the moment by a brain scientist called Jill Bolte Taylor who had a stroke. In the book she explains all of the science behind having a stroke, her experience of having a stroke and what she learned from it. She seems like an incredible women. I wouldn’t compare myself to her but I would love to meet her one day.
That depends as there are many heroes for different things. Alexander Flemming for the discovery of Penicillin which changed human life expectancy. Tony Currie for being the most awesome footballer ever (1970s answer to that Beckham guy). Desmond Tutu for being a really nice guy and as mad as a sack full of badgers. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin for being the best guitarist ever. I would compare myself to James Dyson but without the business sense!
Right now I’m impressed with Eddie Izzard – 43 marathons in 51 days and he’s not even a runner.
Comparing myself, maybe to Robert McCrum, because he wrote a book called “My Year Off” when he had a stroke and I started a similar blog when I had mine.
My hero is Eleanor Simmonds…she is a paralympic swimmer who is 13 and was born with Dwarfism…yet she still managed to win 2 gold medals in the paralynpics in beijing! I think she is a veryinsporational person and proof that you can do anything if you work hard enough and set your mind to it.
My hero is Chrissie Wellington. She is the world record holder for the Ironman event. An ironman is a triathlon consisting on a 2.6mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and then a 26mile run!!! I think anyone who can do an ironman is a hero but the fact that Chrissie Wellington is the fastest woman in the world is unbelievable. Chrissie is also English which makes her even better and she also studied at the University of Birmingham like me!!
