I haven’t really done many really dangerous experiments. The only one I can think of is when I had to get people to exercise and cycle as far as they could in 6 minutes…and then they had to set themself a goal to beat how far they cycled the first time…and then they had to do this again! so they did 18 minutes of really full on cycling and some people passed out and were sick in my lab!

The experiments I do involve human participants so you can never do any really dangerous ones as you wouldn’t be allowed to incase anyone got hurt. There are people who you have to get your experiments approved by that make sure this doesn’t happen.

I haven’t done any dangerous experiments. I take peoples blood in my experiments so I have to be careful when i’m handling that. I also make my subjects so a test called a “Max Test”. I make them cycle until they are so tired they can not cycle any more. The dangerous thing about this is that it can make people feel sick so I always have a sick bucket handy.

When I was doing my PhD I helped out on a project testing pregnant women with heart problems. The test was conducted in the hospital with a cardiologist (heart specialist) and participants had to walk/run on a treadmill until they could go on no longer. There was one time when a participant fainted which was pretty scary because I am not medically trained. Luckily the cardiologist took care of her and she was fine after a couple of minutes. Her baby was born a few months later fit and well too.
