Ooo right. I hope a cure is found. is there any way of preventing it?
SallyB commented on :
No, there is no way of preventing type 1 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is different, it happens later in life and a person can reduce their risk by having a health lifestyle.

Is diabetes tpye 1 dangerous if not treated?
SallyB commented on :
Yes, because the body can not produce insulin anymore the person with the disease must inject insulin into their body. When we eat food it is broken down into sugars (glucose) which the cells in our body use for energy. Many cells have Insulin receptors, Insulin in the blood attaches to these receptors and “unlocks” the cells allowing the gluocose to enter. If there is no Insulin then the cells are locked and glucose can not get in. The cells can not work because they have no energy, then they die.

how often do you have to inject Inslin into the body? Is there any other way apart from injecting?
