We don’t have half terms but I get six weeks holiday a year which I can take when it fits in with the teaching I do. In practise that works out a lot like school holidays.

I don’t get half terms off. The holiday allowance is pretty good, it’s better than all of my friends who don’t work in science. Because I manage my own time sometimes I go home early if I’m not being very productive and then I make the time up when I’m feeling full of ideas.

No unfortunately not. We get 8 weeks holiday a year at my University but it might differ from place to place…I’m not sure though. I am taking 4 weeks off next month to go travelling round Thailand with some friends..I’m very excited!

No, I wish we did! We only get 6 weeks holiday each year. The undergraduate students work 30 weeks a years and when they are on holiday we get most of our research done.

We can take time off as and when we need it however you need to carefully plan it so that it doesn’t interfere with your testing in the lab.
