Sometimes people don’t pay attention to what they’re doing and drop things – for example if they forget that a cup of tea is on the table and knock it over doing something else.
Sometimes when people have nerve or brain damage they lose the ability to control what they do with their hands. My mum, for example, had Multiple Sclerosis (MS), where the layer protecting your nerves gets damaged so your nerves stop working slowly. Even people with mild forms of MS get clumsy, have trouble walking, etc. The more severe kinds can damage your brain and stop you from being able to move around at all.
