  I can think of a few ways which might just be possible. One is if there is any black holes created nearby us which could swallow it us all up (there was a rumour this might be possible at Cern you might have to ask Claire if that’s true). Slightly less extreme is that a star near the end of it’s lifetime somewhere in our galaxy could explode sending out a shock wave which destroys the sun and enough radiation to kill us all. I think it’s far more likely we survive the next few billion years until out sun ‘dies’.
