• Question: can a black hole suck up the sun?

      If one passed the Sun, then yep, it would suck the Sun right up and scatter all the planets away! But that’s very unlikely – space is really big, and there aren’t that many black holes. So we’re pretty safe. Closer to the centre of the galaxy you do get stars eaten by the massive black hole there, but we’re way out in the spiral arms of the galaxy, so are safer there.
